The Melville Regional Park is in financial trouble and is at risk of closing. This year the park will run on a very scarce budget. Running a park comes with a great cost, in excess of $200,000
Some of our top expenses are staffing, utilities, building and ground maintenance and let's not forget those fuel costs. Last year fuel alone came at a cost of $8000.00.
We have also seen a major decline in our paid users. In 2018 our income was $60,000. This fiscal year the Park's income was just below $30,000.00.
So where do we go from here?
We currently have had some changes to the board. New faces, new ideas, and new energy who are currently working hard to find a way to get the park back into a sound financial position.
As a board we are reaching out to our community in hopes of support. Please consider purchasing your park pass. All proceeds from these sales stay directly with our local park.
Stay tuned as the board plans for some exciting fundraising events so we can keep our doors open.
